London--->Florence

Hello! I'm in Florence, safe and sound, after a rather awful trip to get here.

But lets not get into that just yet, okay? My last day in London was really nice. We went to St. James' park, saw Buckingham, went to Pret for lunch and then hit up the national portrait gallery. St. James' was spectacular! So beautiful, especially because the weather was so great-it was really sunny, then all of a sudden it rained terribly hard, then the sun came right back out. It was so cool. There were a lot of people at the park (naturally), so it was quite lovely to see the kids feeding the birds and running about.

Close up of the buildings...as Matt put it "where are we? India?" because of how cool this looks. Apparently its a bunch of military and government buildings. It looks like a palace though!!!
Buckingham palace!

The national portrait gallery is really fun. First off, there was a "fan rally" in Trafalger square (which is right in front of the National gallery and portrait gallery), for of all things....the NFL. Weird? Yeah totally.

Anyway, the gallery was a blast. It was exciting to find portraits of people (Darwin, the Bronte sisters, Turner, Keats are just a few of the surprises we came across). What was most fun though was seeing all of the weird old portraits of Royalty, pre and post Tudor. It was a fun place to roam.

Okay, now to the Journey to Florence. Basically, don't ever fly on Halloween. Anything that could go wrong, pretty much did. From delays to missing buses to my phone not working to being lost. But I made it. I also ended up talking to a lot of girls who are studying in Florence, which was fun. So it didn't turn out too badly. I'm off to do some much needed laundry, then attempt to use the buses to go see the Duomo!!!!

I love you all! xoxox
